If you have inches but need millimeters, follow these steps:
In order of increasing size…
1/16 inch is almost 2mm.
1/8 inch is little greater than 3mm.
1/4 inch is somewhat greater than 6mm.
3/8 inch is about 10 millimeters.
1/2 inch is around 13mm.
16mm is the same as 5/8 inch.
19mm is equivalent to 3/4 inch.
7/8 inch Equals little over 22mm
1 inch is equivalent to 25.4 millimeters.
If you’re using millimeters and need to convert to inches, 1mm is little more than 1/32 inch.
2mm = little more than a sixteenth of an inch
3mm is about 1/8 inch.
4mm = 5/32 inch (about 1/8 inch).
5mm is little greater than 3/16 inch.
6mm is nearly a quarter of an inch.
7mm is about 9/32 inch (= little more than 1/4 inch).
Eight millimeters is equivalent to five sixteenths of an inch.
9mm is about 3/8 inch.
10mm equates to little more than 3/8 inch
11mm is about 7/16 inch.
12mm is about 15/32 inch (almost 1/2 inch).
13mm is little larger than a half-inch.
14mm is about 9/16 inch.
15mm is about 19/32 inch.
16mm is about equivalent to 5/8 inch.
17mm is about 11/16 inch.
18mm equates to little more than 11/16 inch
19mm is about 3/4 inch.
20mm is the same as 25/32 inch.
21mm equates to little more than 13/16 inch
22mm is about 7/8 inch.
23mm is the same as 29/32 of an inch.
24mm equates to somewhat more than 15/16 inch
25mm is nearly an inch in length.
If you have inches and want to convert them to millimeters:
In step one, convert any inch fractions to decimals.
1/4 inch is equivalent to 0.25 inches equals 1 divided by 4.
For example, 1/16 inch means one divided by sixteen is 0.0625 inch.
For values more than an inch, first convert the fractional component to an inch value and then add the whole inch value:
For example, 2-1/4 inch = one divided by four multiplied by two is 2.25 inch.
For example, 5 divided by 8 plus 1 = 1.625 inches.
Multiply by 25.4 the decimal value.
The whole procedure for each of the aforementioned scenarios is as follows:
1/4 inch = 1 multiplied by 4 equals 6.35mm (6mm)
1/16 inch = 1 multiplied by 16 equals 1.5875 (1.6mm)
2-1/4 inch is equivalent to 1 multiplied by 4 plus 2 equals 57.15. (57mm)
5 divided by 8 + 1 multiplied by 25.4 equals 41.275 inch. (41mm)
If you have millimeters (or centimeters) and want inches, proceed as follows:
Subtract 25.4 millimeters from your millimeter measurement.
(Alternatively, double your centimeter measurement by 2.54)
Two millimeters divided by twenty-five millimeters = twenty-five millimeters.
In Example 1, 07874 inches are used.
Six millimeters divided by twenty-five millimeters = twenty-five millimeters.
In Example 2, 2362 inches are used.
In Example 3, 30mm divided by 25.4 equals 1.1811 inches.
4 centimeters divided by 2.54 is 1.5748 inch
Clarise Abstract Heart Drop Necklace 3.2ct Garnet CZ Rhodium
If you’re determining the quantity of 6mm beads necessary for a 20-inch necklace, you may use this decimal value directly. As seen in Example 2, a 6mm bead corresponds to.2362 inches.
Thus, twenty necklace lengths divided by.2362 inch lengths = 84.67 beads each necklace.
Given that you’ll almost certainly want space for bead tips and a clasp, I’d recommend rounding down to 80 beads. The chart below indicates the amount of beads on each strand.
If, on the other hand, you want fractions of an inch (1/16, 1/4, or 1/2), use the following formula:
The second step is to convert your decimal to a fraction that you can work with:
My measurements are usually rounded to the nearest 1/16 of an inch. Divide your decimal value by 16 to get the nearest 1/16 of an inch. The number of 1/16ths of an inch that you have is the outcome.
Using the same numbers as in Step 1, create the following:.
07874 multiplied by 16 is 1.26, which is close to 1/16 inch.
When.2362 is multiplied by 16, the result is 3.779, which rounds to 4, or about 4/16. 1/4 inch is equivalent to 4/16 inch.
When dealing with amounts more than an inch, it is recommended to exclude entire inches and then reintroduce them after converting the section after the decimal point:
1.1811 By deleting the number one, you get. 1811 divided by 16 equals 2.9, which rounds to 3, or about 3/16 inch… Don’t forget to replace the 1 to make this 1-3/16 inch.
1.5748 By deleting the number one, you get. Multiplying 5748 by 16 equals 9.1968, which rounds to 9, or around 9/16 inch… Don’t forget to replace the 1 to make this a true 1-9/16 inch.
For jewelry purposes, I do not recommend rounding to larger fractions, such as 1/4 or even 1/8 inch. If you are not manufacturing jewelry or if your specifications are imprecise, round to a larger fraction, such as 1/4. Simply substitute 4’s for all 16’s in Step 2’s examples to round to the nearest 1/4 of an inch.
Using the same values as in steps 1 and 2, you would get…
multiplied by four equals.07874
315, which is rounded to zero, yields a result of 0/4 of an inch (a quite useless figure!).
Multiplying.2362 by four equals.
9448, which is rounded up to one, equals a quarter of an inch (which happens to be accurate)
